For more than 50 years, Frank Howard was a leading figure in Newfoundland’s automotive industry. Starting from humble beginnings with a single dealership, Howard expanded Capital Auto Group into one of the largest automotive companies in the province, employing over 500 people and representing 10 automotive brands. His business acumen and dedication not only contributed significantly to the local economy but also set a benchmark for entrepreneurship in Newfoundland and Labrador. Beyond automotive sales, Howard’s influence extended into real estate through The Howard Group, which manages the Howard Properties portfolio, further demonstrating his versatility as a business leader.
Howard’s contributions to the business community were widely recognized. Earlier this year, he was inducted into the Junior Achievement Newfoundland and Labrador (JANL) Business Hall of Fame, honoring his decades of entrepreneurial success and leadership. Additionally, he received the prestigious CADA Laureate Award for Ambassadorship, highlighting his role in promoting excellence and integrity in the automotive sector.
