The Ionia, Michigan community is mourning the loss of Jason Eric Little, a respected educator, devoted husband, and loving father, who was found dead according to online sources. Born on February 25, 1989, in Lansing, Michigan, to Rick and Chris Little, Jason’s life was a testament to kindness, dedication, and service to others.
Jason Little grew up in Michigan with a passion for learning and helping others. He pursued higher education at Central Michigan University, where he majored in education and history. During his time at CMU, Jason joined Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, forging lifelong friendships and leadership skills that would guide his career. It was also during his college years that he met the love of his life, Ashley (Reisbig) Little, who would later become his wife and partner in raising their children, Amelia and Isaac.
After graduating, Jason embarked on a 12-year career in education, shaping the lives of countless students in Ionia Public Schools. He began as a history and social studies teacher, known for his engaging teaching style, dedication to student success, and ability to inspire curiosity in young minds. His leadership and commitment to excellence eventually led him to the role of Principal at Douglas R. Welch High School. In this role, Jason was not just an administrator, but a mentor, a guide, and a champion for students, teachers, and the entire school community. He was known for creating an inclusive environment where every student felt supported and empowered to reach their full potential.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Jason had a zest for life that extended into his personal interests. He loved hunting, fishing, golfing, and cheering on his favorite football teams. Family and friends were at the center of his world, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He was known for his warm personality, sense of humor, and the way he could bring laughter and positivity to any gathering.
Jason’s impact extended far beyond the walls of Douglas R. Welch High School. He was actively involved in mentoring programs and was a strong advocate for youth development, encouraging students to pursue their passions and dreams. In honor of his dedication to guiding young people, the family has requested that donations in his memory be made to Big Brothers Big Sisters, a cause close to Jason’s heart.
He is survived by his wife, Ashley Little; their children, Amelia and Isaac; his sisters, Jessica (Chad) Garner and Jennifer (Thomas) Wohlscheid; brother-in-law Josh Reisbig; sister-in-law Ashley (Leak) Reisbig; parents-in-law Edward and Adeline Reisbig; nieces Madison Little-Garner and Elise Reisbig; nephews Gabriel Garner and Hudson Reisbig; lifelong friend Dom Oviedo; and numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, and other family members. Jason’s father, Eric Little, preceded him in death.
A funeral service to honor Jason’s life will be held at 12:00 pm on Monday, December 8, 2025, at Shiloh Community Church, 8197 Heth St., Orleans, with Pastor James Floyd officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am and continue until the time of the service. Interment will follow at Woodard Lake Cemetery, 6410 Woodard Lake Rd., with a luncheon at Shiloh Church.
Jason Little will be remembered as a compassionate leader, a devoted family man, and a mentor who dedicated his life to improving the lives of those around him. His legacy will live on through the students he inspired, the colleagues he supported, and the countless lives he touched throughout his career.
